A couple of days ago, after 6 years of development, the release of GIMP 2.10 was announced.

1. Install the Plug-in from the G’MIC Website. You’ll of course need to start.
2. Gimp-Print 4.2.7 is the last stable release of Gimp-Print version 4.2.x for Mac OS X; it includes 225 drivers supporting over 600 printers. The disk-image file includes an OS X installer package, an uninstaller package, plus illustrated documentation to easily guide you through the printer set-up process.
3. Download GIMP 2.8.22 via BitTorrent Download GIMP 2.8.22 directly. The download links above will attempt to download GIMP from one of our trusted mirror servers. If the mirrors do not work or you would rather download directly from our server, you can get the direct download here. Since the 2.8.2 version, GIMP runs on OSX natively.

We think it's a great achievement with the limited development resources and the tireless work needed to fix issues as they arose. So, Kudos to the developers on this very important milestone!

Well, our builds are not far behind this time. Introducing GIMP 2.10 with the usual bells and whistles you have come to expect from this build.

The raw image editor Nufraw is included as usual.

The latest version of the application can be downloaded for Mac OS X 10.6.0 or later. Gimp-2.8.0p1-snowleopard-lion.dmg, gimp-2.8.2-dmg-2.dmg, gimp-2.8.4-nopython-dmg-1.dmg and gimp-2.8.10-dmg.

See above! Currently one is unable to select RawTherapee as a default raw editor. The issues are technical and the team is working to fix this. A bug report has already been filed and once it is resolved, this build will be updated with the fix.

With this build as before, you can use all the brushes you'll ever need.

G'MIC has been updated to latest pull as well. For the Mac OSX build, G'MIC requires an additional X11 interface which has been provided in this version. Please let me know if you face any issues.

If you have been using Photoshop, then you must be familiar with using the camera-raw plugin on any current image/layer you wish to. Well, with this build, you can consider doing the same by using LightZone as the 'camera-raw' plugin. Of course, you have to make sure that you have installed it in its default location. Special thanks to Stefano Azzi for providing this plugin.

One needs to be a little vigilant while using LightZone. Please be sure to save and close the application or your edits will not be transferred back to GIMP.

Finally if you want to provide just a hint of HDR to your image or go all grunge, you can always open the Nik Collections HDR Pro to get the job done.

Needless to say, you have to have the Nik Collection installed in its default location.

GIMP (development version) for Unix-like systems

We provide a Flatpak development repository on Flathub. This is not a nightly, hence only development releases will be made available (i.e. specific snapshot manually selected, not automatic builds). If there are no development releases, the latest stable release will be provided instead in this repository.

Flatpak build available in: x86-64 and AArch64.

Note: If you installed both the stable and beta repositories, the desktop (menus, etc.) will see only one version at a time. To make sure your desktop sees the development version, run this command:

Or respectively to restore the stable version as the visible GIMP application: Pycharm free for students online.

flatpak make-current --user org.gimp.GIMP stable

You may also create shortcuts running specifically one of the other version.

Systems without flatpak support

GIMP can also run on Solaris and is available for the BSD family of systems such as FreeBSD and OpenBSD. Third party development packages may be available for these systems. Please refer to the documentation for your Unix-like system on the installation of software.

Most Unix-like systems make it very easy to install a development environment for building software from source. If you can't find a GIMP package in your distribution's package repository or want to build a more recent GIMP version that what is available there, then see the source code section.

Automatic development builds

Automatic builds (sometimes called 'nightlies') are generated at regular intervals by our Continuous Integration process. This allows to run the last version of our code, though it also means you will get possibly very unstable work-in-progress, just as it is made. Therefore ⚠️ be aware that you would be running very experimental code! ⚠️ These builds are meant to test future GIMP versions and help us debug, we do not advise to use these for production.

Note 1

These builds are not provided with a fancy installer nor any desktop integration (i.e. no shortcuts in menus, etc.). Just unzip the archive, and double-click gimp.cmd or gimp-2.99.exe files.

Note 2

There are still a few known issues such as missing GObject Introspection, i.e. that the Python 3/Javascript/Lua/Vala plug-ins won’t work with this build (yet).
